Atelier

Marino Moretti Art Studio

“Tradition is evolution, not reproduction” This is the philosophy on which Marino Moretti’s ceramic production is based. The Viceno potter’s works are characterized by an unmistakable style, fine workmanship with often vibrant colors and ever-changing subjects. Marino opened his first workshop a stone’s throw from the cathedral in 1977. After a series of solo exhibitions in Italy, he exhibited in several cities abroad including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Melbourne, Sydney, Toronto, and Muscat. His studio currently occupies some spaces on the ground floor of the Rocca di Viceno, a 9th-century fortification that later became a castle in the 13th century overlooking Orvieto. The complex, one of the oldest in the Orvieto area, is situated on top of a tuffaceous spur in a dominant and once strategic position. From here you can enjoy a visit and a spectacular view. In Orvieto, in Piazza del Duomo, you can visit the Marino Moretti Studio d’Arte gallery where his works are on display. It is possible to book a visit to the castle and workshop, painting and turning demonstrations and actual pottery classes.

Artisan

Orogami

Massimo and Tiziana Aloisio have, behind them, years of study and work experience in the world of art and architecture. Through each Collection, the works express concepts directly related to life and its emotions by transferring positive energies into those who wear them, those who look at them, and those who touch them. An idea is transformed and materialized through forms that can best express it. This approach to contemporary design makes it possible to mix aesthetics, high quality craftsmanship and versatility with the symbolic values that the Collections carry. In Orogami’s creations, the circle constitutes one of the most recurring dimensions: a symbol par excellence of life and the vitality of things, in its shape everything is understood, it begins and ends without solution of continuity. A continuous constructive research aimed at enhancing the beauty of the material through games of reflections and shadows, of solids and voids, and a chromatic use of stones to enhance the desired effect. All this through techniques rooted in traditional Italian energy and craftsmanship. A fusion of craftsmanship, thought and heart. And this is why, like the simplicity that is difficult to make, an Orogami creation is somehow unique, difficult to reproduce, set on the border as it is between an artisan product of excellence and a work of art.

Painting Classes

The paintings of Massimo Chioccia and Olga Tsarkova have in them the originality of work made by four hands, like skilled pianists: : works in which the gesturality and emotionality of informal, action painting are admirably blended with the skill and refinement of figurative painting; trumpets, saxophones, double basses and the intensity of the performers’ faces emerge from the wide backgrounds of intense color in an electrifying poetic language. Massimo and Olga organize individual and small group painting classes.
